Church Vandals

I attended services at a church that, in the vernacular, had been trashed the night before (“Church Defaced; Stand on AIDS, Abortion Cited,” Part A, March 12).
There was red paint, obscenities and messages that indicated that the perpetrators disagreed with the Catholic Church’s position that 1) destroying our unborn young is against the laws of God and nature, and 2) that homosexual acts are likewise unnatural. To be consistent, of course, the church also advocates restraint rather than institutions and devices to make these activities safer.
I am sure that the church finds it difficult to hold meaningful debates on these subjects with anonymous opponents who make their point by splashing paint and obscenities on buildings--in the dark of the night.
But they are not entirely faceless because, as the saying goes, “By their fruits ye shall know them.”
