Lake View Terrace Recreation Center and Hansen Dam

On April 4, 1989, members of the Lake View Terrace community and representatives from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers met to discuss the future of the recreation center and Hansen Dam. The Corps of Engineers, which owns the property, agreed with residents that a man-made lake would best serve the community. Preliminary plans are to build a lake in the dam area sometime before the year 2000. The lake is tentatively planned for the basin area next to a section of picnic tables and trees.
In addition, the San Fernando Valley Fair moved from Devonshire Downs in Northridge to Hansen Dam in 1989. The fair committee plans to host a larger and longer fair at Hansen Dam again this year.
