Beverly Hills : Developer for Civic Center
- Share via
The Beverly Hills City Council has hired the firm of Lehrer McGovern Bovis to oversee the final stage of construction of its Civic Center.
The Los Angeles-based firm will be the manager of the project, beset with troubles since its inception in 1984. The firm’s staff will work at an hourly rate, but its agreement with the city sets an overall cap of $850,000 on fees.
Originally estimated to cost $36 million, the Civic Center has encountered cost overruns that may take its final cost beyond $100 million.
At their meeting Tuesday, City Council members noted that Lehrer McGovern Bovis will also help draw up legal claims arising from disputes over costs and delays for the Civic Center, which is more than two years behind schedule.
