As a solution to “Assembly Line Justice Threatens the Whole System” (March 13), I propose instituting a system of community tribunals made up of residents to relieve the courts by handling minor drug and crime cases. The punishments would consist of community service, restitution to victims and/or drug and alcohol education courses. This system of community tribunals will foster a sense of pride, involvement and responsibility in the community.
