MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A grand jury has issued subpoenas in its investigation of a report that a relative of Alabama linebacker Keith McCants may have received money from agent Lance Luchnick, a state prosecutor said today.
McCants, who gave up his final year of eligibility to make himself available for the NFL draft, signed Luchnick to negotiate his first professional contract.
McCants could be the top pick in the April 22 draft, a choice belonging to the Atlanta Falcons.
Assistant State Atty. Gen. Don Valeska said he could not elaborate on the Mobile County grand jury investigation, “but I can confirm that Atty. Gen. Don Siegelman has ordered an investigation on this matter.”
