Home runs by Keyaan Cook and Dylan Jones knocked El Camino Real High from the ranks of the unbeaten Tuesday as Montclair Prep posted a 7-6 victory in the semifinal round of the Thousand Oaks baseball tournament.
Cook, a senior, belted a three-run home run off junior right-hander Terry Morrow (0-1) to give Montclair Prep a 3-0 first-inning lead. Jones, a junior designated-hitter, added a solo home run in the second inning. Montclair Prep (14-2) added three runs in the third.
Senior right-hander Kevin Grant (7-1) scattered eight hits and stifled a seventh-inning rally for the win. With one out and runners at first and second, Gregg Sheren hit a fly ball to the warning track in center field. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch before Jason Cohen flied to left to end the game.
Montclair Prep plays Agoura today at 1 p. m. for the tournament championship.
In an earlier quarterfinal game, El Camino Real (10-1-1) scored 11 runs in the fourth inning en route to clobbering Canyon, 12-1. Junior right-hander Corey Bromberg (1-0) struck out eight while pitching a four-hitter.
Cohen hit a three-run home run and Sheren had a solo homer.
