In other quarterfinal games:
Capistrano Valley 13, San Diego Mt. Carmel 12--Jonathan Petke hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give Capistrano Valley a 13-11 lead at Valencia High School. Petke had four runs batted in. In the fourth inning, Chris Lugo broke a 6-6 tie with a grand slam for Capistrano Valley (8-6-1), but Mt. Carmel (12-2) scored five in the bottom of the fourth.
Tony Solliday, who allowed 14 hits and 12 runs--nine earned--to earn the victory. He was replaced by Ethan Wyckoff in the fifth. Wyckoff allowed two singles in the fifth before retiring the final seven batters to earn his first save.
Miami Southridge 12, El Dorado 6--Ken McDorman and Mike Martinez each had two hits to lead Southridge (12-9) at El Dorado. Southridge broke the game open with a five-run third inning, three of which came on a home run by Chris Pearce.
In a consolation game:
La Quinta 7, Esperanza 6--Walter Dawkins hit a two-run homer with two out in the seventh inning for La Quinta (12-5) at Esperanza. Dawkins went three for four. Esperanza is (11-4).
