Thomas Will Enroll at UNLV

Antelope Valley College Coach Newton Chelette confirmed Tuesday that Dedan Thomas, a former Taft High basketball standout who played at Antelope Valley the past season, will attend Nevada Las Vegas next fall.
Thomas originally had planned to attend UNLV last year but instead spent the season at Antelope Valley because of academic difficulties. Chelette said Thomas will sit out next season and will not be on an athletic scholarship, which will enable him to retain three years of athletic eligibility.
Chelette said Thomas had planned to stay just a year at Antelope Valley before transferring to Las Vegas.
“Everything’s on go,” he said.
Thomas, a 6-foot freshman, missed 11 games during the middle of the past season with a knee injury but still finished with 210 assists and a 12.4-point scoring average.
