Metromedia Wins $46.5-Million Award: Metromedia won $46.5 million in a racketeering suit against New York travel agency and limousine services operator William Fugazy, a former close friend of Metromedia’s owner, John Kluge. The suit stemmed from Metromedia’s 1985 purchase of Fugazy Express, a limousine service now in bankruptcy. Metromedia, a Secaucus, N.J.-based telecommunications and restaurant company, alleged that Fugazy misrepresented the financial condition and liabilities of Fugazy Express when he sold it. It contended that Fugazy was guilty of a pattern of securities, mail and wire frauds.
