Ojai Sailor’s Body Is Found on Beach

The body of an Ojai man missing at sea for 17 days was found washed ashore on an Oxnard beach by a jogger Wednesday, officials said.
Heinz Gunter Kluckow, 49, fell into the ocean Memorial Day while trying to recover a dinghy from his boat sailing two miles off Mandalay State Beach.
A co-worker and friend identified Kluckow on Wednesday by distinctive tattoo marks on his upper forearms, Deputy Coroner Mitch Breese said.
Richard Walczak of Springfield, Va., found Kluckow about 6 a.m. on the beach near Ocean Drive and Las Palmas Street, said Lt. Gary Backman of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
