Billboard Group to Adopt Ad Code: Under increasing pressure from consumers and legislatures, the Outdoor Advertising Assn. plans to announce that it has adopted a new code of advertising practices. The policy generally encourages individual billboard firms that belong to the trade group to establish tougher standards. Among the recommendations: Billboard companies should establish “exclusionary zones” that bar ads promoting products such as cigarettes and beer within 500 feet of schools, hospitals and places of worship.
