Meeting Nixon at Plaque Dedication 22 Years Ago

Richard Nixon, ex-President and a man who resigned his leadership post in disgrace, is having his $21-million library in Yorba Linda dedicated July 19, 1990. What a farce.
This man’s political life was full of corruption. In the 1950s he took $200,000 from Howard Hughes. He took a $6-million home (Casa Pacifica) from Bebe Rebozo while in the White House. He attacked Helen Gahagan Douglas, falsely accusing her of being a Communist, in order to win his original election to Congress in 1948.
Many of his White House staff members, high and low, were convicted of crimes against the nation and served various amounts of hard and easy time.
I feel Orange County missed a more logical opportunity to honor him by naming the planned jail here “The Richard M. Nixon Penitentiary” or “county jail.” It would be a much more proper and fitting memorial.
