Suit Over Failed Satellite Filed: Martin Marietta Corp. has sued the Intelsat consortium over who will pay for the bungled launch of a $157-million communications satellite. Bethesda, Md.-based Martin Marietta filed suit in U.S. District Court in Baltimore asking that it not be held liable for the launch. The company has accused Washington-based Intelsat of making “unlawfully coercive demands,” and says Intelsat should be held responsible for the mishap. Intelsat is expected to argue that Martin Marietta was grossly negligent in conducting the launch.
