Bob Hoffmeyer, former New Jersey Devils assistant coach, is one of three coaching candidates for San Diego’s International Hockey League franchise.
The names of the remaining candidates were not released. Don Waddell, the team’s director of hockey operations, said he hoped to interview the three candidates next week and announce his choice by July 20.
Hoffmeyer was co-coach of the Utica, N.Y., Devils last year, and an assistant in New Jersey the previous two years.
The search for a team name has been narrowed to six or seven, and team colors will most likely be red, white and black, Waddell said.
Waddell said he plans to attend a free agent camp in Boston next week, where 150 players are expected to play.
