Hoover Named Baseball Assistant at UCI

IRVINE — Fred Hoover, an assistant baseball coach at Cal State Fullerton, has been named assistant baseball coach at UC Irvine.
Hoover, 59, will work primarily with pitchers at Irvine.
Hoover had been an assistant coach at Fullerton for the past two seasons. Before that, he was head baseball coach at Golden West College for 22 years, compiling a 478-269 record. At Golden West, his teams won seven conference titles and finished second seven times.
At Irvine, Hoover replaces Robin Dreizler, who recently accepted a position with UCLA.
