LOCAL : McMartin Civil Suit Dismissed

A federal judge today dismissed Peggy McMartin Buckey’s federal civil rights lawsuit against Los Angeles County, Manhattan Beach and Children’s Institute International.
U.S. District Judge Richard A. Gadbois Jr. said the civil rights claim brought by the mother of Ray Buckey “just isn’t going to fly,” considering there was an 18-month preliminary hearing to establish probable cause and that she was acquitted.
Gadbois said he could understand Buckey’s being upset about her ordeal, but “being very, very upset does not state a cause of action.”
