THE SIDELINES : Muster Quits Czech Open Match

PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia — Thomas Muster of Austria quit his Czechoslovak Open first-round match with Italian Claudio Pistolesi after their first game today because of pain in his hip.
Muster, who won the Czechoslovak Open in 1988, suffered a hip injury in Key Biscayne, Fla., the following year when he was hit by a car.
Franco Davin of Argentina defeated Jimmy Brown of the United States 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 today.
In another first round match, Stefano Pescosolido of Italy defeated Czechoslovakia’s Rene Hanak in two swift sets 6-3, 6-1.
