WORLD : Sky Divers Collide, Fall to Death

PAVULLO, Italy — Two sky divers fell to their deaths today after they collided during a jump involving 12 parachutists, authorities said.
Officials said Maurizio Moggi, 37, could not open his parachute in time to avoid a collision with the open parachute of Marco Bertolini, 22.
The force of the impact collapsed Bertolini’s parachute, causing both men to plummet to the ground.
