PLM International, a San Francisco-based firm that manages and leases transportation equipment, named J. Alec Merriam chairman of the board and Robert L. Pagel chairman of the executive committee. They replace S. A. (Chip) Megeath III, 44, who had held those posts since October, 1988.
In a statement, Megeath said he also resigned as a director, effective Monday, because of “intense disagreement” with the board “over the company’s operations, policies and practices.”
On Aug. 11, Ray A. Goldberg, a professor at Harvard’s business school, resigned from the board.
PLM said it named Robert N. Tidball, the company’s president and chief executive, to the executive committee to fill the vacancy resulting from Megeath’s departure.
