Columbia Pictures Entertainment Inc. has named Arnold W. Messer president of a new division, Columbia/Tri-Star International Releasing Corp. Messer will oversee all aspects of the company’s international theatrical and television operations, as well as worldwide home video, pay television and certain ancillary markets.
Alan J. Levine, Columbia’s president and chief operating officer, said the new post reflects the growing importance of the international marketplace. Messer, an attorney, joined Columbia in 1976. He has held a variety of positions, including executive vice president for business affairs.
