Investor Raises Coast Stake: Theodore H. Kruttschnitt, a Burlingame, Calif.-based private investor, raised his stake in Los Angeles-based Coast Savings Financial to 8% on Aug. 30 from 6.4%, according to a SEC filing. Kruttschnitt bought 232,000 shares at $4 each on that date, bringing his total to 1.2 million shares. Kruttschnitt has said his shares are an investment. Coast stock rose 12.5 cents to $4.375 a share Wednesday.
