The complex will include the Main Theatre, the Intimate Theatre, the Art Gallery and an outdoor Street of the Arts for touring artists, exhibits, companies and productions.
Total cost of the complex is $21 million, with two-thirds of the money coming from the state. Construction is scheduled to start early next year and is expected to take 18 months.
The Republic of China and Cal State plan a major cultural event after the complex is completed. One-third of the students at the campus are Asian.
