Pacific’s Kopp Passes for 564 Yards and 5 Touchdowns in 62-24 Victory

STOCKTON — Quarterback Troy Kopp passed for 564 yards and receiver Aaron Turner had 11 catches for 265 yards in leading Pacific to a 62-24 Big West Conference victory over New Mexico State Saturday night.
Kopp, a sophomore from Mission Viejo High, completed 28 of 46 passes, with five going for touchdowns. He also ran for 37 yards and a touchdown. He broke the school record of 515 passing yards he had set last Saturday against Cal State Fullerton.
The NCAA record for passing yardage, and total yardage, in a game is 631, set by Utah’s Scott Mitchell against Air Force in 1988.
Turner broke the school record of 182 yards receiving by Gary Woznick against New Mexico State in 1965.
Pacific is 3-4 overall, 2-3 in the Big West. New Mexico State is 0-7, 0-4.
