HARARE : To Boycott Or Not?

Olympic officials from across black Africa are scheduled to meet Saturday in the Zimbabwe capital to discuss the future of the sports boycott against South Africa.
The African National Congress wants the sports boycott--which is seen as having had the greatest psychological effect of all the attempts to isolate Pretoria over the years--to continue until it is convinced that President Frederik W. de Klerk’s reforms are “irreversible.”
But South African sports officials hope for some sign that they are on the verge of readmission to world competition.
