An undercover woman police officer on a prostitution stakeout in Van Nuys received minor injuries Thursday when she was struck by a truck while attempting to arrest the driver, Los Angeles police said.
The name of the officer was not released.
Eugene Tanner, 23, of Chatsworth was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, said Sgt. Ed Brayton.
Police said that Tanner picked up a prostitute near Cohasset Street and Firmament Avenue and that the two engaged in a “lewd act” in his truck about 6 p.m. The undercover vice officer and her partner identified themselves as officers and attempted to arrest the two. “When he realized who it was, he started the truck up and said, ‘You’re not going to take me’ and took off,” striking the officer, Brayton said. Tanner was arrested by other officers after a half-mile chase.
