CS Long Beach Opens Against North Texas

DENTON, Tex. — The Cal State Long Beach basketball team, 23-9 last season, opens its season under new Coach Seth Greenberg tonight at 5:30 PST against the University of North Texas.

The 49ers are led by sophomore guard Lucious Harris, who was the Big West Conference’s freshman of the year last season, averaging 14 points a game. At point guard is Bobby Sears. Expected to start up front are Frankie Edwards, Troy Joseph and either Mike Masucci or Kevin Cutler.

North Texas, 5-25 last season, is a quick, guard-oriented team led by 6-foot-3 junior Ray Schusford and 6-1 Donnell Hayden, a transfer from Baylor. The Mean Green lost to Long Beach last season, 92-74.
