Trump Hearings Begin: Donald J. Trump’s Taj Mahal Casino Resort got off to a shaky start but a proposed restructuring of $675 million in debt will give it time to recover, casino officials testified at a hearing in Atlantic City, N.J., where the casino is located. Trump spokesmen blamed the casino’s problems on the recession in the Northeast and on its failure to capture enough of the lucrative slot machine market but insisted that conservative projections for the coming year leave the property poised to recover. New Jersey’s Casino Control Commission is holding hearings on the Taj Mahal’s financial stability.
