Writers Tentatively Approve Contract

The Writers Guild of America has tentatively agreed to a three-year extension of its contract with movie and TV producers.
“I never thought it would happen in my lifetime. It means peace for five more years,” George Kirgo, president of the guild’s West Coast branch, said Wednesday.
The agreement, which must be ratified by the guild’s 10,500 members, calls for annual contract adjustment meetings.
The guild staged a 22-week strike in 1988.
