ANAHEIM — Erika Miller made nine three-point baskets and scored 43 points to lead Edison High School to a 73-32 victory over Los Amigos Thursday in a fifth-place game of the Savanna girls’ basketball tournament.
Miller’s nine three-pointers were one short of the Southern Section record, accomplished twice last season by former teammate Debbie Fischer. Angie Cole of Royal also made 10 in a game last season.
“I was looking to shoot (three-pointers) because there was nobody guarding me--they played a zone,” Miller said. “So the coach told me to keep shooting.”
Teammate Joan Paje added two three-pointers to help set a school team record of 11 in a game.
Miller, a 5-6 senior, is averaging 24.2 points and has connected on 22 of 51 three-point attempts this season. Edison is 9-2.
In other Savanna tournament games:
Loara 42, Newport Harbor 31--Tracy Titus scored 19 points and Stephanie Wright added 12 points to lead Loara (4-3).
Savanna 58, Torrey Pines 36--Carrie Frederick had 22 points, Stacey Aliff 18 and Sara Works added 14 to lead Savanna (7-0) in a championship semifinal.
