Palos Verdes Estates police Thursday were searching for clues in the apparent murder-suicide of a woman and man found by passersby in the Malaga Cove beach area.
The bodies of the 39-year-old woman and 61-year-old man, both believed to be Mexican nationals, were discovered Wednesday morning on a dirt road about 50 feet from the surf, Police Lt. Ed Jaakola said.
Jaakola said it appeared that the man shot the woman and then turned the weapon on himself. A note was found in the man’s pants pocket. The note, written in Spanish, said, “Do not blame anybody because of our death.”
Although the woman wore a wedding ring, it was unknown if the two were married, Jaakola said. Mexican passports retrieved from the couple’s car, which was found about a quarter-mile away, identified the two as Maria del Carmen Leonor Abdo de Gomez Jauregui and Alfonso Ortega Rivera.
