Former S&L; Owner Hospitalized: Don R. Dixon, who faces sentencing next month on 23 counts of savings and loan fraud, was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains and an elevated heart rate. Dixon, the former owner of Vernon Savings & Loan, was transferred under guard Sunday from the Mansfield Law Enforcement Center near Ft. Worth to the Mansfield Hospital. A spokesman in the intensive-care ward said Dixon’s condition was listed as stable.
