Pepperdine junior water polo player Geoffrey Clark, a native of Australia, was named an All-American for the second time. Clarke was named the Big West Conference player of the year last season after he led the Waves to a 23-9 record and a tie for first place in the conference with UC Santa Barbara.
West Los Angeles College sophomore Sam Rogers, a top defensive lineman last season, has received a scholarship to the University of Colorado. Two other WLAC sophomores, linebacker Maurice Burton and offensive lineman James Alston, expect to play for San Francisco State next fall.
Evans Butler shot a 35 for nine holes to win the A flight in the Penmar Golf Club’s senior men’s tournament. Other flight winners and their gross scores: Irv Himelhoch, B, 37; Ken Erickson, C, 37; Phil Smith, D, 42 and Carlos Aguirre, temporary handicaps, 43.
