Toddler Badly Hurt in Driveway Mishap

SANTA ANA — A 16-month-old boy was severely injured Tuesday when his uncle accidentally backed his car over the child in a driveway, police said.
The accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Spruce Street, Police Lt. Chuck Magdalena said.
“Apparently the uncle was backing out of the driveway and didn’t see the child,” Magdalena said.
The boy, who was not identified, suffered severe internal injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Magdalena said. His condition was not immediately known.
