Amgen Drug Nears European Approval: The Thousand Oaks firm moved a step closer to getting the go-ahead to sell in Europe a new drug that fights bacterial infections in chemotherapy patients. A medical committee said the drug, called G-CSF, met the requirements to be sold in the European Community. Now it’s up to the 12 countries that make up the community to individually review the drug. The drug would be sold in Europe by a partnership between Amgen and Swiss pharmaceutical giant F. Hoffmann-LaRoche Ltd.
