Striking workers at Minnetonka, Minn.-based Alliant Techsystems Inc.’s munitions plant that makes 25-millimeter shells that are being used in the Persian Gulf War will vote Sunday on a new contract offer.
The Gulf War has cast a shadow over Portugal’s extensive privatization program, the centerpiece of government plans to overhaul one of Europe’s poorest economies. The center-right administration indefinitely postponed the sale of the state’s majority share in the profitable insurer Alianca Seguradora that was scheduled for Jan. 29.
