COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Win Moves Biola 1 Game Ahead of Master’s, 81-75

Doug Newby scored 36 points as Biola pulled away in the final six minutes to beat The Master’s College, 81-75, in an NAIA District 3 basketball game in La Mirada.
Jason Webster led Master’s (19-10, 11-4 in district play) with 21 points. Biola, which leads the district standings by one game, is 25-6, 12-3.
BASEBALL
Valley 6, Harbor 2: Steve Trainor, a sophomore from Burbank High, pitched a five-hitter and did not allow an earned run as Valley upset defending state champion Harbor in a nonconference game at Valley.
Trainor (3-0), who has allowed one earned run in 24 innings, lowered his earned-run average to 0.38.
Sean Lewis, who was two for three and scored twice, led off Valley’s five-run fifth with a triple. Harbor (10-2) helped Valley’s cause in the inning by committing two errors. Valley is 3-6-1.
L.A. City 11, Canyons 7--The Cubs (5-6) scored four runs on three hits in the 10th to beat the Cougars (0-7-1).
Bakersfield 5, Mission 4--Art Gonzalez’s solo home run in the 12th inning helped Bakersfield beat Mission (4-7).
Cal Lutheran 14, Chapman 0--The Kingsmen (6-1) erupted for 14 hits and senior Mike Clark (2-0) gave up only three hits.
