An Anaheim woman home has been ordered to stand trial for murder in the fatal stabbing and shooting her elderly mother at her La Canada Flintridge home.
After a preliminary hearing Tuesday, a Glendale Municipal Court judge ordered Victoria Elizabeth Jacobs Madeira, 43, to be arraigned March 6 in Pasadena Superior Court, Deputy Public Defender John Haveson said. Madeira has pleaded not guilty and is being held in the Sybil Brand Institute for Women.
Authorities allege that Madeira, accompanied by her 11-year-old son, murdered Roma Jaul Jacobs, 78, at Jacobs’ home Oct. 14. Sheriff’s deputies arrested the pair outside the home, with Madeira wearing military fatigues and the boy wearing women’s clothing. Madeira’s relatives say that the woman is a paranoid schizophrenic and have blamed the crime on her illness. Madeira’s son was cleared of charges that he helped his mother kill his grandmother.
