Suicide Blamed in Man’s Death at Mall

COSTA MESA — A 33-year-old Newport Beach man was found dead in his car at South Coast Plaza on Tuesday, authorities said.
The man was seen slumped in his car shortly before 3 p.m., Police Lt. Gary Webster said. A passerby called South Coast Plaza security, whose guards found the man dead in the parking structure by May Co.
Webster said the man, whose name was withheld, died of a gunshot wound, apparently self-inflicted. An investigation is continuing.
