Raiders Fan Pleads Guilty in Assault at Coliseum

An Agoura Hills man who attacked and seriously injured a rival football fan during a Los Angeles Raiders game last fall pleaded guilty Friday to felony assault charges. Shane C. Geringer, 20, was charged with breaking a rival fan’s jaw and causing head and other injuries. He pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury.

Superior Court Judge James A. Bascue ordered him to surrender June 3 at Chino state prison, where he will undergo three months of psychological testing before his sentencing Sept. 10.

Numerous witnesses told authorities that a drunken Geringer punched and kicked a rival fan cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the Sept. 23 Raiders-Steelers game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Paul Albrecht, 35, of Tucson, Ariz., is still undergoing physical therapy for nerve damage, Veals said.
