The Sheriff’s Department will hold an anti-gang symposium Friday in the City of Industry for 300 youths from local school districts.
The youths, from the Bassett, Hacienda La Puente and Rowland Unified school districts, will hear presentations from law enforcement and community leaders on the dangers of gang involvement and the importance of building self-esteem.
The forum will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Industry Hills Conference and Recreation Center.
The event is part of the Industry station’s Operation COURAGE (Community Opposition and United Resistance Against Gang Evils), which organized a rally at a La Puente park in January that drew about 5,000 people angry over gang violence.
