Help From Jackson: Michael Jackson will put up more than $7,000 to pay for the funeral of former Motown associate David Ruffin, who died last Saturday of a drug overdose in Philadelphia. Jackson won’t attend the funeral today in Detroit because he doesn’t want to create an uproar, but a spokesman said that Jackson always idolized the former Temptations singer. Ruffin’s relatives weren’t sure how they were going to pay for the funeral until Jackson made his offer. The services at the New Bethel Baptist Church are expected to draw members of the Temptations and Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.
