Neil McCarthy has left his post as senior vice president at troubled Orion Pictures Corp. to become executive vice president of the Capitol-EMI Music Inc. label group. McCarthy will report to Capitol-EMI President Joe Smith and will be involved in business strategies.

McCarthy said Capitol presents “a real exciting opportunity to learn the music business.” McCarthy worked at New York-based Orion, which is promoting a recapitalization plan to pay down its debt, for the past year.
