The district attorney’s office has charged a San Diego sheriff’s deputy with giving away less than 1 ounce of marijuana, the sheriff’s department announced Wednesday.
James K. Spurgeon, 28, is to be arraigned this week on the misdemeanor count and has been on administrative leave with the department since allegations against him were raised in April.
Spurgeon, who was assigned to the Vista station, has been with the department a little more than five years.
