Tips for hiking safety:
* Wear well-fitting sturdy shoes with good tread to support you over uneven, unpaved terrain.
* Carry plenty of water. One quart is recommended for short walks, more for longer hikes.
* Stay on established trails to protect yourself from poison oak or from getting lost and to protect fragile natural areas.
* Wildlife abounds in our local mountains. Enjoy and observe it from a distance. Never attempt to feed or approach wild animals.
* Help prevent wildfires. Do not smoke on trails or in brush areas, and don’t build fires on the ground.
