NEW YORK — Publisher Bantam Books said Sunday that it won the high-priced bidding war to publish the memoirs of Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf.
Schwarzkopf, U.S. commander in the Gulf War, could receive more than $5 million for the as-yet-untitled autobiography, a published report said.
Schwarzkopf’s agent said five publishers had made offers, but neither he nor Bantam would divulge terms of the deal.
The New York Times reported in today’s editions that a senior editor at Random House said Random House had bid $5 million, suggesting that Bantam paid more.
