Reynolds Gets 11 Consecutive Hits in Japan

TOKYO — R.J. Reynolds hit safely in his first two at-bats Sunday and set a Japanese professional record of 11 consecutive hits as he led the Yokohama Taiyo Whales to a 7-1 victory over the Yakult Swallows.
Reynolds, formerly with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Dodgers, singled in a run and then hit a two-run homer, his eighth homer of the season.
Reynolds’ streak ended when he grounded out in his third at-bat.
He singled in another run in his fourth at-bat.
