Los Angeles police detectives said Thursday that they have no leads in the killing of an Encino man who was shot earlier this week outside the Auto Club of Southern California in Van Nuys.
Gregory Steinman, 57, was shot in the head about 9:15 a.m. Monday as he walked to his car in the parking lot at 6725 Kester Ave., Detective Steve Hooks said.
Steinman died about five hours later.
There have been no arrests and police asked for help in finding the killer.
Steinman had lived alone in the 17100 block of Clemons Drive since his wife died in 1989, Hooks said.
He was co-owner of an auto body shop in Gardena, but often worked out of his home, Hooks said.
Detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting.
No property, including Steinman’s white Oldsmobile, was taken.
“There is no evidence he was robbed,” Hooks said. He added, “There was no one who would have benefited from his death or would have wanted him dead.”
