Oval Jaynes, athletic director at Colorado State, has been offered the athletic director’s job at the University of Pittsburgh, according to The Pittsburgh Press.
The newspaper said that Jaynes got the offer from J. Dennis O’Connor, president of Pitt, after Dave Hart Jr., athletic director at East Carolina, turned it down. It said the offer to Jaynes came despite the fact that Corey Johnson, athletic director at Cal State Long Beach, had been O’Connor’s second choice for the position.
Jaynes would replace Ed Bozik, who retired July 1 after nearly nine years in the job.
