Duties Levied on Japanese Computer Screens: The U.S. said it would start levying duties on Japanese computer screens “dumped” in the United States after a trade panel ruled that the $100-million market was hurting domestic producers. The screens are used in laptop and portable computers, medical instruments, industrial controls and commercial avionics. The International Trade Commission, a U.S. agency, found that the flat display screens imported by Japanese producers were hurting their much smaller U.S. rivals.
