A benefit equestrian event raised $52,000 for the planned Huntington Beach Art Center on Aug. 9 and 10, organizers said Tuesday. The money, $17,000 more than the event fetched last year, brings to about $475,000 the total amount raised toward $700,000 needed to renovate an existing building in downtown Huntington Beach for the community art center, slated to open in Oct., 1992. Organizers had hoped to reach the half-way point toward their goal by Sept. 1. The Second Annual GTE The Everything Pages Summer Classic was sponsored by GTE Directories and drew more than 1,500 visitors.
